Ronan is a handsome 4-year-old, 40 lb neutered male with a spirit that shines despite a heartbreaking past. He was found tied to a barrel, abandoned and neglected. But Ronan's resilience is remarkable! He's a spirited, playful boy who is now ready to embrace the freedom and kindness he so deserves.
Ronan is an energetic, fun-loving dog who enjoys interacting with people and other dogs. He's friendly when approached with respect and prefers calm, understanding handling. Because of his past, Ronan can be sensitive to sudden or rough movements, especially around his neck and body. If startled or handled forcefully, he may give a warning growl out of fear and discomfort. Patient adopters who understand canine body language and will allow him to feel safe and respected will be rewarded with his loyalty and playful spirit. He walks well on a leash and responds wonderfully to gentle guidance and structure. Ronan has a medium to high energy level and will thrive with regular exercise and enrichment.
Ideal Home
Ronan needs a patient, experienced home that can provide him with the safety, respect, and stability he's never known. He is not suitable for homes with young children. He is okay with cats and likes to play, but monitored interactions are recommended.
Ongoing Health
Ronan is currently heartworm positive and will require ongoing treatment and care during his recovery journey.
Training & Support
Ronan is crate trained and comfortable on leash. He is not yet house-trained and will need continued support and consistency as he adjusts to home life. He thrives when handled calmly and respectfully.
