Gina is a delightful 8-month-old Belgian Malinois mix who weighs 56lbs and is spayed. She was found as a tiny puppy abandoned in a cardboard box near a busy road, but thanks to the care of a wonderful foster, she now has the chance to find her forever family. Gina is a playful pup who enjoys tug-of-war with her smaller dog siblings and often initiates games by bringing them toys. While she's comfortable with dogs of various sizes in her foster home, she can be a bit hesitant around unfamiliar, larger dogs due to a past incident. Slow introductions are key for her to build trust. She's also a bit too enthusiastic about neighborhood cats, so a cat-free home is recommended.
Ideal Home
Gina would thrive in an active home with people who will engage in daily play and exercise. She would do well with older, dog-savvy children (10 and up) as she can be jumpy when excited and is unaware of her size. A home with another dog is also recommended to keep her company and help her channel her puppy energy.
Ongoing Health
Gina is a healthy pup! She is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations.
Training & Support
Gina is crate-trained and working on her house training, with no accidents when crated for up to 8 hours. She walks well on a leash and doesn't show signs of separation anxiety. She does prefer to enjoy her treats alone and is still in the "puppy velociraptor" stage, so guidance on appropriate chew toys will be important. Prospective adopters should be prepared to provide ongoing socialization, positive training, and plenty of opportunities for exercise and enrichment.
