Meet Rocky! This handsome 3.5-year-old German Shepherd mix weighs around 80 pounds and is ready to find his forever family. Rocky can be a little shy and takes his time warming up to new people, but once he trusts you, he's a silly, happy, and incredibly devoted companion. He's not the type of dog who will greet every visitor with boundless enthusiasm, but if you have the patience to help him build confidence, you'll be rewarded with his affectionate and loving nature.
Rocky's journey to us was a tough one. He was found wandering and was understandably scared at the shelter, which led to some initial misinterpretations of his behavior. Thankfully, a dedicated volunteer spent time with him, and Rocky began to show his true, sweet self. Just as things were looking up, he fell ill with a severe respiratory infection that developed into pneumonia, putting him in critical condition. We were thrilled to be able to rescue him and get him the intensive hospital care he needed. After a month of dedicated recovery and rehabilitation in his foster home, Rocky is back to full health and ready to embrace life. He's made great strides with his social skills and is now excellent with other dogs and comfortable meeting new people, though he prefers to approach them on his own terms. He forms a deep bond with his primary person and reveals his fun-loving, cuddly, and affectionate personality once he feels secure.
Ideal Home
Rocky would thrive in a home with a yard, as apartment living isn't the best fit for him. A friendly canine companion would be wonderful for him.
Ongoing Health
Rocky has fully recovered from his pneumonia and is now in excellent health.
Training & Support
Rocky is house-trained and crate-trained. He walks well in the car and is steadily improving his leash-walking skills. He is not destructive and is comfortable being left alone.
