Meet Charlotte: a young, sweet Doberman mix with a love for life! Despite a tough start in life, she hasn't lost her zest. Charlotte arrived as a young stray with significant weakness and muscle loss in her hind legs due to a severe case of hip dysplasia. To relieve her pain and help her move more normally, she underwent surgery on both hips in November 2025 to remove the poorly fitted "ball" portions of her joints. Because her muscles were so weak before the procedure, she has required intensive physical therapy and underwater treadmill sessions to rebuild her strength. Charlotte has made incredible progress in foster care and can now walk and run well, though she still finds stairs a bit challenging. She is a happy, resilient dog who can just about keep up with the best of them now! Charlotte is a breed mix that can show some challenging behaviors during adolescence. Charlotte has been in our care a long time and we've learned that meeting new people can be challenging for her, this is very common for both German Shepherds and Dobermans. Charlotte needs help to continue learning how to greet new people and understanding that new humans are not a threat. We are working on this a LOT. Her fosters are working on it and we have our training staff working on it. Her new family will get all the support we can offer to help them learn the skills we are teaching Charlotte so they can keep up training foundation we are building. Since Charlotte spent so much time healing in a foster home, they got to know her really well! Here's what her foster family has to say: "Charlotte is such a sweetie! She got along great with our two small dogs. She can get a bit excitable when meeting other dogs, but she just wants to play with them. She knows 'fetch', 'sit', 'down' and 'leave it.' We walked her a lot due to her surgery and she can now enjoy hikes and romping around with her doggie friends. Charlotte loves squeaky toys, and is crate and house trained. Overall, she's a lovely dog and will make a great addition to her new home." Charlotte is spayed and weighs 50.2lbs. Her birthday is approximately 1 year, 2 months, and 3 weeks ago.
