Storm, a sweet and gentle soul, is ready to find her furever home after raising her puppies and recovering from ehrlichia. She's up-to-date on vaccines, spayed, and eager to start her new life. As is common with Great Pyrenees, Storm can be a little shy, but she gets along wonderfully with other dogs. A unique feature she possesses is double dews on all four paws, which is unusual but not unheard of for her breed.
Ideal Home
Great Pyrenees are known for their independent and sometimes stubborn nature. Potential adopters should be aware that they can be prone to barking, are often overly protective, and are not suited to being off-leash. Training a Great Pyrenees to specific boundaries can be challenging. Storm would do best in a home where family members are in agreement about bringing a dog home and are prepared for the commitment now. Applicants must be at least 21 years old. While there are no blanket criteria, consideration will be given to breed experience, yard suitability (a visible fence is preferred), and the presence of other animals in the home. To ensure Storm's well-being, homes with same-sex couples are generally not a good fit, as Pyrs often do not thrive in such environments.
Ongoing Health
Storm has been treated for ehrlichia and is now spayed and up-to-date on all her vaccinations.
Training & Support
Potential adopters should research the specific needs and traits of Great Pyrenees, as they can be prone to barking and may be overly protective. While not explicitly stated as a behavior needing work, understand that Pyrs are not easily trained to boundaries. Proof of completing a basic obedience course will be required as part of the adoption contract within six months of adoption.
