Leon is a handsome, approximately 1-year-old male Labrador Creole mix weighing about 30 lbs. He was rescued in March 2024 and is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, awaiting his trip to the East Coast. Leon is a loving, intelligent, and playful companion who enjoys walks, runs, and lots of affection. He can be a little shy when first meeting new people, but quickly warms up and melts into your arms. He's sociable with people, children, and other dogs, and is also friendly with cats. Leon is crate and leash trained and was rescued as a newborn with his six siblings.
Ideal Home
Leon would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He needs a family with an open mind about the needs of rescued animals, understanding their requirement for protection and education. Previous experience with dog behavior and training, as well as high tolerance and patience for rescued puppies, would be very beneficial. It's important to note that Leon is NOT house-trained.
Ongoing Health
Leon has completed a comprehensive health protocol including spay/neuter certificate, DHPPI and Rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, deworming, microchip, 4DX test, and a negative heartworm test. He receives monthly preventive treatment with Nexgard Spectra for fleas, ticks, and heartworms. A health certificate and vaccination booklet are available.
Training & Support
Leon is crate and leash trained. However, he is not house-trained, and adopters should be prepared for this. It's important to note that not all rescued pets are potty-trained due to the intensive nature of rehabilitation efforts.

- A home check (virtual or in-person) will be conducted.
- A virtual meet and greet will be arranged with you, the prospective pup, and the foster home.
- A trial adoption period with an adoption contract will follow if a good fit is determined.
Transportation
Leon is currently fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on our next cross-country trip. Transportation to the adopter's home address on the East Coast is available for an additional fee of $400.00, which is to be paid by the adopter prior to the pet's departure.
