Meet Julio! This approximately 4-year-old French Poodle mix is a resilient pup with a heart full of love, weighing about 22 pounds and aiming for a healthy 33 pounds. Julio was found wandering the streets in a difficult condition, suffering from malnutrition and wounds. Thanks to dedicated care, he's on the mend and has shown incredible sweetness and joy despite his past hardships. Neighbors recall him spending much of his life chained, and one day he was found loose, dragging a leash. Despite this, Julio has blossomed into a social butterfly, getting along wonderfully with dogs, cats, children, men, and women. He's leash-trained, crate-trained, and will happily alert you when he needs to go outside. Julio is affectionate, playful, patient, and yearns to be close to his people, especially after his past experiences. A charming quirk he has is picking up and carrying leashes, as if still processing that he's no longer tied up.
Ideal Home
Julio would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue and a deep understanding of the needs of street animals, requiring protection and education. Experience with dog behavior and training is highly valued, or a commitment to hiring a trainer. High tolerance and patience are essential for this rescued pup.
Ongoing Health
Julio is currently underweight and recovering. His health protocol includes spay/neuter, DHPPI and Rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, deworming, microchipping, a 4DX test, negative heartworm test, and monthly Nexgard Spectra preventive. He also comes with a health certificate and vaccination booklet. It's important to note that rescued dogs may require an adjustment period due to past trauma, and patience is crucial.
Training & Support
Julio is leash-trained and crate-trained, capable of holding it for 8-10 hours. He is not house-trained, as it is difficult to house-train every rescued pet. He can be a little anxious when separated from his family due to his past, but his greatest desire is to belong. A family willing to work with a trainer will help this intelligent dog reach his full potential.

- If approved, you'll sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee, which covers vet care, spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, and food.
Transportation
Julio is currently fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on our next cross-country trip if adopted. We offer door-to-door delivery, organizing 3-4 trips per year with a minimum of 15-20 adoptions per trip. Our partnered transport company, based in Montana, collects adopted pets from Mexico. Each pet travels with a transport contract, a USDA health certificate, and health protocol certificates. For US adoptions, pets cross into Texas, and for Canadian adoptions, they are delivered to the nearest US-Canada border. A private Facebook Messenger group will provide real-time updates on your pet's journey. The transport fee is $400 USD, covering transportation from Mexico to your doorstep, which includes a final home review.
