Ernie is a handsome, 8-year-old neutered male Pittie/Cattle Dog mix weighing around 63lbs. He's a true gem of a dog who was found running in busy traffic. Despite being microchipped, his previous owner did not want him back. Ernie is a chill and goofy gentleman who gets excited for walks and playtime. He's done great with every human and animal he's met and wants to be wherever you are. Ernie is a gentle playmate, goes with the flow, and is happy to be included in the fun. He's been great with dogs of all sizes and allows his foster sibling, a little Aussie, to boss him around. He has shown interest in a cat from across the room but not in an aggressive way, and we think he'd be fine with cats who don't mind him wanting to say hello. While Ernie hasn't been around children, his foster believes he'd enjoy a home with them as long as they are aware he's a big boy. Ernie is house-trained and walks well on a leash. He doesn't enjoy crates and will try to escape, but he is not destructive when left unsupervised. If he knows you're home while he's in the crate, he may whine or howl for a few minutes, but he calms down with a treat or verbal commands. Ernie is a social guy who loves spending time with his humans and enjoys following them from room to room, with his favorite spot being right next to them. His foster mom feels Ernie would be a great fit for many types of homes, including those with children, other pets, an older couple, or even a first-time dog owner. Even though he's a senior, Ernie has a lot of love left to give and is eager to join his own pack.
