Thunder The Zesty Bestie

This cutie is Thunder! He's a 10-month-old bundle of energy, weighing in at about 40 pounds. We think he might be a mix of Pit Bull and Labrador Retriever, but in rescue, it's always a bit of a mystery! What's not a mystery is how incredibly adorable he is, and sadly, he's one of the most at-risk puppies in the US. Shelters in his original area are facing euthanasia for puppies, making Thunder a true lifesaver adoption. By choosing him, you're not only giving him a loving home but also opening up space for another dog in need.

Thunder is a delightful mix of playful, sweet, curious, and incredibly cuddly. He's a social butterfly who adores everyone he meets and thrives on companionship. He's a champ at fetch and will play until it's time for some serious snuggle sessions. Thunder lives harmoniously with three cats and is already a pro at "sit" and "wait." He's also crate and potty trained, making him a true joy in his foster home. He'd be happiest in a home with an outdoor space where he can explore, play, and enjoy his favorite pastime: sunbathing!

Ongoing Health

Thunder is up-to-date on all vetting, including DAPP with booster, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines. He has also received multiple broad-spectrum deworming treatments, flea prevention, and a 12-month heartworm preventative injection. He has been tested for heartworm and treated if necessary. He is microchipped with free lifetime registration.

Training & Support

Thunder is still young and will need a family committed to continued training, socialization, and the time and patience puppyhood requires. Consistent routine, structure, boundaries, and positive social experiences are key to raising a confident, well-rounded adult dog. We require adopters to continue crate training upon arrival home to support potty training, energy management, and long-term success.

Thunder is located in Texas. We facilitate adoptions nationwide using our rescue-run USDA certified transport system. This system ensures every pet travels safely and comfortably with 24/7 care. Our transport includes drop-off locations in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI, and Canada. Canadian adopters can pick up in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY, or Brattleboro, VT. You will have the opportunity to track their journey in real time, see photo updates, learn fun facts, and connect with fellow adopters and fosters through our private Facebook event page! A $87 surcharge applies due to rising transportation costs. Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
