April

April is a young, happy puppy who is full of energy, curiosity, and affection. She loves exploring, playing with toys, and then settling in for cuddles when she is tired. Even though she was born with a small heart defect (a congenital ventricular septal defect, or VSD), she feels like any other playful pup and enjoys life to the fullest. She's ready to bond deeply with her people and grow up in a home where she is safe, cared for, and loved.

Ideal Home

April would do well with a family who can balance her normal puppy play and training with the understanding that she has some ongoing medical needs. She needs people who will see her first as the sweet, snuggly, toy-chasing puppy she is, and who are comfortable staying on top of her vet care. A loving home, some patience, and a cozy spot to curl up are really all she asks for.

Ongoing Health

Her heart condition is lifelong, so she will need regular checkups with a cardiologist as she grows, but she is not currently showing any symptoms and feels great day to day. Because anesthesia is a bit higher risk for her, she has not been spayed yet; any future procedures should be done with a veterinarian experienced in cardiac cases.
