Meet Flotsam, a magnificent 3-year-old black and white American Bulldog mix who certainly knows how to make an entrance! He found his way to PACC after a rather dramatic car ride with his companion. Flotsam is a big, handsome boy who is truly looking for a calm, stable, solo life where he can finally relax and focus entirely on his favorite person. Flotsam is a dog who needs an experienced owner committed to managing his environment to ensure safety and success. He is absolutely worth the effort, but his management requirements are non-negotiable. If you are looking for a loyal companion who will offer you his entire heart in a one-on-one partnership, come to PACC and ask to meet Flotsam today!
Ideal Home
Flotsam is not compatible with other dogs and must be the only pet in the home. He is reactive when separated by a fence or a leash, and can be assertive when face-to-face. He should not be taken to dog parks or any public areas where close interaction with other dogs is unavoidable. Flotsam would thrive in a home without children or with older, dog-savvy teens who are skilled at reading and respecting a dog's space and warnings. When you first meet Flotsam, you must be prepared to go slowly and patiently. Forcing interactions or physical handling will not work with this sensitive guy. Flotsam has a history of escaping their yard and roaming.

Training & Support
Flotsam needs patience and time to decompress at home. Go slow and don’t force handling, use positive reinforcement to earn trust. He may not be immediately affectionate after adoption and will take time to warm up. Muzzle training can be a useful tool for initial introductions to new dogs. When outside, make sure to keep hold of his leash until he has settled into the home and do not leave him unattended.
