About Monika

Monika is a sweet, approximately 1-year-old female Labrador mix who weighs around 26 lbs. She was rescued in March 2024 from the streets of Saltillo, Mexico, along with her mother and siblings. Initially very shy and fearful, Monika has blossomed in her foster home with love and patience. She's a playful, funny, and very food-motivated girl who is crate-trained and getting along well with other dogs and people. Monika can be a bit shy and reserved, so she'll need a patient and loving family to help her build trust. She is very noble and submissive.

Ideal Home

Monika would thrive in an active home with a family that enjoys daily walks or hiking. A fenced backyard is a must for her to safely explore. Her new family should have an open mind and a lot of patience for a rescued street animal, understanding that she may need at least three months to truly show her personality. Experience with dog behavior and training is highly recommended.

Ongoing Health

Monika has undergone a comprehensive health protocol, including being spayed, vaccinated for DHPPI, rabies, and bordetella, and dewormed. She has tested negative for heartworm and received a 4DX test. She is on monthly Nexgard Spectra protection for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. She comes with a health certificate and vaccination booklet. Monika is not yet house-trained.

Training & Support

Monika is not house-trained, and her foster family has been unable to provide dedicated house-training due to the number of animals they care for. She will require consistent effort and patience in this area.
