Miss Susie Q is finally ready to find her forever home! Susie came to us a while ago needing some medical attention. She arrived with red, itchy skin, irritated eyes, and ear infections. After trying various treatments without success, she underwent allergy testing. She's now on a special diet and medication to manage her environmental allergies, which are helped by Apoquel, and a limited ingredient diet due to many food allergies. She is currently on a hydrolyzed protein diet and kangaroo as her only safe protein.
Her skin issues also delayed her spay surgery. While we worked on managing her allergies, she also underwent heartworm treatment. Because of these procedures, we had to wait at least six months before any surgery, including her spay. Almost a year after arriving in rescue, Susie is now fully vetted and ready for a loving home!
All this extra time has allowed us to get to know Susie really well. She absolutely adores people and has lived happily with children as young as 8. She's always excited to meet new faces and is known for her sweet disposition, even during difficult vet visits for her heartworm treatment. She greets everyone with smiles and tail wags!
Susie loves her walks and is a fantastic leash walker, sometimes even carrying a toy along! She also enjoys car rides.
In her foster home, there are several other dogs. Susie gets along with most of them, though she tends to decide quickly if she likes another dog or not. She continues to show a dislike for certain dogs in her foster home, while being perfectly fine with others. Any potential adopter with resident dogs will need to bring them for a meet-and-greet. We do recommend a home without cats.
Susie weighs 56lbs and is estimated to be around 5-6 years old. While she might not be the most conventionally beautiful, her amazing personality and abundant love more than make up for it. We know someone will see her true beauty!
