About Wallace
Hi there! I'm Wallace, a 1.5-year-old Black Mouth Cur/Shepherd mix who weighs around 40 pounds. My fur is extra-soft, and my big brown eyes have a way of looking right into your soul – maybe because I've been waiting a long time to truly belong to someone. I came from a hoarding situation where I didn't get to learn much about being part of a family, like how to play or the coziness of a warm bed. Because of this, I can be a little shy at first, and loud noises or fast movements can make me nervous. But with gentle words, calm reassurance, and tasty treats, I warm up quickly and my silly, fun-loving personality shines through! I absolutely LOVE to run and play, and squeaky toys are a big hit. When I get excited, I do a cute tippy-tappy dance with my front paws! I'm a sweet boy who loves to be close to my people, whether that's at your feet, curled up beside you, or soaking up affection. I've learned to use a doggie door and I'm doing great with crate training. I get along wonderfully with other dogs and would truly thrive with a confident canine friend to help show me the ropes and build my confidence. Walking nicely on a leash is something I do well, especially with a buddy by my side. While I haven't been officially tested with children, my gentle nature suggests I'd do well with calm and respectful kids. I'm especially wonderful with the elderly, as I'm tender-hearted, gentle, and content just sitting quietly. I'm still learning the ropes of being a family dog, but I'm intelligent, eager to please, and very food-motivated, making training a breeze. I have a high energy level and need regular exercise, playtime, and mental stimulation. I'd be an amazing adventure buddy for walks, hikes, play sessions, and cozy evenings. More than anything, I'm hoping for a patient, loving home that understands shy dogs and will help me build confidence at my own pace. In return, I'll be your sweetest velcro dog, loving you with my whole heart. I've spent my first year just surviving; now I'm ready to belong. Could I be your Wallace?
Ideal Home
A patient and loving home that understands shy dogs. A home with a confident canine friend would be ideal for helping me build my confidence. I would likely do well with calm and respectful children and am especially wonderful with the elderly.
Ongoing Health
All animals at HSO are current on their vaccinations and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. If not already spayed/neutered, there may be a short delay between when you select this pet and when they are ready to go home.
Training & Support
I am highly intelligent, eager to please, and very food motivated, which makes training easier. I do have a high energy level, so regular exercise, playtime, and mental stimulation are important.
