Meet Leila, a 6-year-old spayed female German Shepherd/Pit Bull mix who is a total sweetheart with a lot of love to give! Leila is a sensitive soul who forms deep emotional bonds with her people. She's happiest when she's by your side, whether it's lounging on the sofa or just being near you for comfort. While she enjoys quiet time indoors, she also has a playful side and loves a good zoomie session. Leila is a quick learner and is motivated by treats, mastering commands like sit, stay, place, down, jump, spin, shake, and even "in between" where she walks between your legs. She's crate-trained, muzzle-trained, and e-collar trained, which provides her with structure and security.
Ideal Home
Leila would thrive in a peaceful, dog-free household with a large, securely fenced yard. She would do best with someone who works from home or has a flexible schedule, allowing for plenty of quality time together. She is not a fan of small animals due to her high prey drive.
Ongoing Health
Leila takes daily medication for incontinence and is prescribed trazodone for high-stress situations like vet visits to help manage her anxiety. She is up to date on vaccines and recently had a dental cleaning.
Training & Support
Leila has separation anxiety and does best when crated when left alone. She can be wary of men and protective, especially in her home, and needs slow, patient introductions. She may nip if she feels threatened or defensive when people enter her space. For walks, she needs a strong, confident handler, and she can be reactive to other dogs, even from a distance. Continued structure and consistency are key, especially due to her prey drive and reactivity.
