Terrance arrived with severe wounds from an unknown source, but thanks to loving care, he's on the mend and ready to find a forever family who will give him the love and safety he deserves. Terrance is a gentle soul with a resilient spirit, eager to move past his tough start and share his loyalty and affection. Terrance is very smart and has figured out how to open his crate! He knows basic commands like "sit, wait, ok, treat, get a toy" and is potty trained, using a jingle bell to signal when he needs to go outside. He enjoys car rides and loves long walks and a good game of tug. He also enjoys chew toys and balls, and can entertain himself by tossing his big blue ball around the house and chewing on tennis balls.
Ideal Home
Terrance would do best in a home with no children, or with teens and older. He is allergic to chicken, which causes him diarrhea and itchy skin. He seems to do well with Purina Pro Plan. He does not like his paws being touched, but he does not mind showers. Terrance is a strong, 55-plus pound dog and will sometimes ignore physical boundaries, nudging people or trying to sit on them. He can be reactive when he sees other dogs and would likely do best as a single dog or with a calm, submissive canine companion.
Ongoing Health
Terrance arrived with wounds on his ear and side, suspected to be burn wounds. While he has healed, the skin on his back has not regrown hair.
Training & Support
Terrance is highly reactive when he sees other dogs. He walks nicely with an "Easy-Walk" harness, which will be provided to his new family. He loves to snuggle but sometimes does not want pets while snuggling.
