The Serene Suburbanite

Say hello to Sable, the two-year-old Retriever mix who's mastered the art of being a perfectly medium everything – from her energy to her coffee preference (if she drank coffee, which she doesn't... because she's a dog). Weighing in at 55 lbs, Sable is the canine equivalent of a "just right" porridge, which would make Goldilocks proud.

Not one to hog the limelight, Sable is the epitome of moderation. She's got a medium energy level that makes her happy with daily strolls around the block or a good sniff around a yard. Apartment with a patio? Great. Suburban backyard? Even better. Just no dog parks, please – Sable prefers her playdates to be like her coffee shop ambiance: chill and with known companions.

When it comes to feline friends, Sable's motto is "Cats? Never met them." As far as she's concerned, they're mythical creatures, and she's quite content keeping it that way. Her social skills with humans and dogs are on point, though. She's tolerant of most dogs, even though she doesn't appreciate those lacking manners (she’s looking at you, Mr. "I’ve never heard of personal space").

Sable is also the kind of girl who appreciates her routine. Think of her as that friend who's always fifteen minutes early, enjoys a good snuggle on the couch, and occasionally takes on the role of 'mom' when other dogs forget their Ps and Qs. She’s mostly trained, but let's be honest, who isn't a work in progress?

In terms of her living situation, Sable enjoys her personal space when alone – no couch potatoes or shoe munchers here! She’s the low-maintenance companion you didn’t know you needed, ready to bond over time and grow with someone who loves stability as much as she does.

If you're looking for a dog who's perfectly balanced in almost every way, who will quietly rule your heart (and occasionally the other dogs), Sable is your girl. Ideal Home

We recommend homes with children 10 years and over to ensure the best fit for both the pets and families involved. Sable enjoys her personal space when alone. She does not like dog parks.

Sable is a healthy 55lb, 2-year-old Retriever mix.

Training & Support

Sable is mostly trained, but is always a work in progress. She does not appreciate dogs lacking manners.

Sable is currently being fostered in Texas and will be transported to her forever home by our rescue! We have transports departing each week!
