About Spike

Meet Spike!

This handsome two-year-old German Shepherd mix is a bundle of energy and affection, weighing in at about 50 pounds. Spike is a truly special boy with a striking black coat and a bright white chest patch. He's incredibly intelligent, playful, and believes he's a lap dog, always ready for cuddles and belly rubs. His favorite things include squeaky toys, which he loves to chase and parade around, and swimming! He's an enthusiastic swimmer and would make a fantastic companion for an active person or family.

Spike has come a long way from the fearful pup he once was. He's grown tremendously in confidence and now eagerly seeks affection and initiates play. While he may still bark at strangers out of uncertainty, he quickly looks to his humans for reassurance. With patience and continued confidence building, he continues to blossom. He has lived peacefully with female dogs and would benefit from thoughtful introductions to any new canine companions.

Ideal Home

Spike would thrive in a home with a patient, experienced pet parent who can provide a fenced yard, loving guidance, and steady leadership. He needs a caring environment where he can continue to build his confidence.

Ongoing Health

Spike is neutered and microchipped.

Training & Support

Spike is crate-trained and house-trained. He knows several commands including sit, wait, crate, out, no, and comes when called. He responds beautifully to structure and positive reinforcement. While he may bark at strangers out of uncertainty, he recovers quickly with reassurance. Loud sirens can make him uneasy, and he sometimes whimpers if he sees his people cuddling another dog. Continued confidence building will help him with these sensitivities.
