Jiraiya

Hi there! I'm Jiraiya, a handsome 48-pound Terrier mix with a heart full of love, just waiting for my safe space. I can be a bit shy and nervous when I meet new people or explore new surroundings, but I promise I'm a super sweet boy who really wants to trust. My nose is always busy, exploring every little scent and taking my time to make sure everything is okay. I feel much more comfortable when you get down on my level to greet me, and once I know I'm safe, I'll happily come for some affection. My absolute favorite is a good butt scratch – when you hit just the right spot, my whole body wiggles with pure joy! I'm looking for a patient and kind family to help me build my confidence.

Underneath my shy exterior is a loving companion who wants nothing more than to be close to his people. I have all the potential to become your loyal little shadow, following you from room to room and soaking up every bit of love you have to offer. With time, patience, and a calm home where I can blossom at my own pace, I know I'll become the sweetest best friend you could ask for.

• Pennington County residents must also pay an $8 licensing fee at the time of adoption.

I am currently at the Humane Society of The Black Hills in Rapid City, SD. Transport may be available to approved adopters.
