Riley

Riley is a sweet, quiet, wise old man. This 11-year-old, 22-pound Jack Russell Terrier mix was found as a stray and has been with us since before Christmas. He has overcome pneumonia and is doing great! A recent cardiac echo showed his heart is functioning well, and he completed his heartworm treatment in April. Riley enjoys gentle petting and can live happily with or without other dogs. He's a peaceful soul who stays out of any drama. While he may not have had much attention in his past, he warms up quickly to kindness and a tasty treat. He's not interested in toys but loves his comfy dog bed, sunbathing on the porch, and exploring the backyard. He walks okay on a leash, but he's not a big fan of long walks. Riley is also content being left home alone, is house-trained, and signals when he needs to go out. He is currently on cardiac medication, which may not be necessary in the future after his heartworm treatment. Despite his cloudy eyes and slightly diminished hearing, Riley has a great nose for finding treats!

Ideal Home

Riley would thrive in a calm environment, perhaps with a retired couple who enjoy a relaxed lifestyle. A fenced yard would be a great addition for his explorations.

Ongoing Health

Riley has completed his heartworm treatment and is doing well on his cardiac medication. He has cloudy eyes and may have some hearing loss due to his age.

Training & Support

Riley is house-trained and knows to signal when he needs to go outside. He is not a big fan of walks but does walk okay on a leash. He doesn't play with toys but enjoys being petted and has a good appetite.
