Hi! My name is Atlas and I'm at the Santa Barbara Campus. I'm a 5 year 9 month old male Bulldog who is eager for a new home!
An atlas is a bound collection of maps, charts or tables. The term originates from the mythological Greek Titan who was forced to carry the heavens on his shoulders. Atlas (the Bulldog) knows a thing or two about this feeling. After being adopted from Santa Barbara Humane in March of 2025, Atlas thought he had finally found his forever home. A warm bed and a loving family to call his own. Unfortunately for Atlas, fate had other plans. Atlas spent much of his time as a backyard dog, getting limited attention from people and turning from a brown and white dog to mostly brown. Fast forward to June 2026 and Atlas is back at SB Humane with his friends, working hard to get back to his former glory. After multiple bath sessions, plenty of treats, and some much needed TLC, Atlas is ready to try again.
As staff spends time with Atlas it has become clear that he craves interaction with people. He is the definition of a couch potato and is his happiest self when he is scrunched up close to his favorite people. A lover of soft pets and gentle hands reminding him that maybe people aren't so bad after all. After spending much of his time dreaming of a family and wishing for a place to call his own, Atlas would likely do best as the only dog in the home.
Like many Bulldogs, Atlas is currently eating a special urinary diet. He will require this prescription food for the rest of his life because his body likes to make certain stones when he eats something different.
While an atlas can help you find your way home, this Atlas is hoping you can help him find his. If you think you could take some of the weight off Atlas's shoulders, he's ready to meet you at the Santa Barbara Campus.
