JJ Ryder is a solid, athletic, and loyal companion who is ready for adventure and equally happy to relax. This handsome dude is approximately 4 years old and weighs around 75 lbs. He's the kind of dog who naturally walks by your side and is always up for anything.
JJ lives for adventure, whether it's long hikes, fetch marathons, playing in the snow, swimming, or boat rides. Tennis balls are a must, and he's always ready to go when you grab your shoes. After a day of activity, he's content to snuggle on the couch or quietly observe.
JJ bonds quickly with men and thrives on calm, confident leadership. He responds well to structure and is a smart, attuned dog who already knows a good set of commands. He is gentle-lead trained and comes when called. While he's happy to be with his foster family, he truly shines when his favorite man is around. He's also content to hang out near his foster mom while she works from home, patiently waiting for his person to return. He's unfazed by loud trucks, motorcycles, thunder, or fireworks, and while he'll alert you to new people or dogs, he settles quickly. JJ gains confidence from his main person and trusts you to guide him.
At home, JJ is fully potty trained and crate trained, and can free-roam without issue. He's respectful of personal space, not destructive, doesn't resource guard, and sleeps quietly through the night. He's affectionate but not pushy, and loyal without being clingy – simply a great dog.
JJ currently enjoys the company of a large male Lab and a playful small dog, but he would also be happy as a single-dog companion. He's best suited for an adult home or one with calm older teens. Due to his prey drive, a cat-free home is ideal.
JJ is not clingy, he's loyal. He's not loud, he's steady. He's not complicated, he's solid and perfectly suited to a man looking for a best friend and adventure-ready companion. He'll walk beside you, watch the yard, jump in the boat, and relax when it's time to unwind.
