Spottie is an elegant elderly lady looking for a devoted companion to share her golden years. She was found as a stray in New York City, clearly having recently had puppies, and was taken to the city's municipal shelter. Sadly, it's common for moms to be abandoned once their pups are grown. Spottie watched many hopefuls come and go, but as a senior dog, she was often overlooked. Just as her time was running out, a compassionate rescuer stepped in to give her a second chance. While finding a forever home for a senior can be a challenge, we believe someone special is out there for Spottie.
Spottie is approximately 9-10 years old and weighs between 75-80 pounds. She's a large mixed breed with likely Pitbull ancestry, originating from the streets of New York.
Ideal Home
Spottie would thrive with a patient and loving person who can be by her side for most of the day. She's not suited for an avid hiker but enjoys leisurely walks in pleasant weather. An adopter who works from home and can spend quality time with her in the same room would be ideal, as she suffers from separation anxiety.
Ongoing Health
Spottie is not spayed due to her age, and it is not mandatory.
Training & Support
Spottie is house-trained and crate-trained, using her crate as a sanctuary. She walks well on a leash at an easy pace. While she has developed a good relationship with a 10-year-old boy and tolerates cats, even occasionally playing with them, she is not recommended for homes with children or other dogs, as she may have experienced trauma in her past as breeding stock. She is food-motivated and loves belly rubs. Spottie is not interested in toys.
