About Rex
Estimated Age/Birthdate: 09/22/2022 Current Weight: 43lbs Breed Guess: Pittie mix Fully Vetted: Yes Adoption fee: $200
Any Medical or Special needs: None
Temperament with: Dogs: Great with dogs big (110 pounds) and small (6 pounds)! Cats: Unknown Children list specific ages: Literally loves ALL people and has met MANY small kiddos but might do well with kiddos who are a tad older, maybe 4th grade and older as he LOVES food and will happily steal food out of little kiddos hands! Strangers: Has never met a stranger in his life! Rex is EXTREMELY confident and outgoing!
Training Needs: Crate Trained: Yes! Potty Trained: Yes!
Rex is a SUPER outgoing Pittie mix weighing in at a light 43 pounds! He is EXTREMELY outgoing and is happy to meet anyone and everyone! That same mindset applies for dogs too! Rex LOVES all dogs big (110 pounds) and small (6 pounds) and has no food, toy, or water aggression towards people or other dogs! As Rex is such a social boy, he would LOVE another friend to play with! Additionally, if you are one who plans on taking their dog to doggy day care, count Rex in- he would LOVE attending and meeting new friends! While he is a middle aged boy, he can definitely still keep up with the young ones and plays really hard (he just naps a lot more than the younger dogs lol) so having another friend around to play with to help burn his bursts of energy would be amazing!
Additionally, Rex is a great mix of energy! He is SO down for walks (though he can pull when excited so be prepared), bike rides, car rides (he LOVES the car), or any other adventure you might want to go on but also has no problem relaxing! His foster mom works at an accounting firm (she takes him with to work quite often) and he has no problem relaxing for 8 hours a day while they're at work together! While there, he happily greets anyone he meets! In typical pittie fashion, he is VERY excitable during first meets or exciting moments but also in typical pittie fashion, calms down quickly and will relax and snooze! He does like to jump up for hugs which his foster mom is working on but how can you say no to a hug!
Additionally, Rex is potty trained and crate trained, is AMAZING during bath time, and has no problem with his ears, toes, mouth, or tail being handled as he is so docile (this is awesome, especially during vet visits)! While Rex might sound perfect, this boy does come with quirks lol! He is EXTREMELY routine orientated and has a bed time of 8:00pm at which point he expects to be tucked in to bed (literally tucked in to bed) lol (you can see him tucked in, in a photo in the profile)! He does not sleep in his crate over night and sleeps in a dog bed next to his foster's bed where he happily snoozes the entire night! Thankfully, this boy does not have an internal alarm clock and will happily sleep in with you on the weekends! Additionally, Rex is not the biggest fan of thunderstorms or fireworks and enjoys wearing tight clothes or jackets during those situations and then being tucked in to bed (this typically helps soothe his anxiety)! Rex is also EXTREMELY smart and LOVES training- he already knows sit and paw, is working on wait, and is working to sit before going in and out of doors!
As mentioned above, Rex is a creature of habit and for whatever reason, after he comes back inside from going potty or going on a walk, he is always so excited and every time, without fail, will pick a spot on the counter top to jump up and look at and be his nosey self lol! He doesn't grab anything, he just looks but his foster is working on stopping that habit but, what can he say, he's just so excited to be back inside! Other than needing to be tucked in to bed at 8:00pm and being a nosey counter top looker, this boy could be considered essentially perfect! He isn't destructive so once his counter surfing (really more counter looking) habit is broken, he could easily be left out in the house while you're away but in the meantime, he is crate trained! Rex even knows the word "cagies" and will VERY excitedly run to his cage and sit where he will wait for a treat!
Rex has been with his foster for months as he continues to get looked over for more conventionally cute dogs but in the meantime, he has been a foster sibling to close to 25 dogs including 11 tiny puppies throughout the months. He is absolutely AMAZING with puppies and it has been a privilege for his foster to see him help socialize and shape all of the puppies into outgoing, well-rounded, well socialized dogs! If you are one who is considering getting a puppy down the line, know that Rex has helped raise many puppies and has been nothing short of amazing with them (you can see him with one of his puppy foster siblings in the video as well as in a picture)! If you're looking for a versatile dog who is foundationally great but needs just a little bit of training, Rex is your guy!
