Oskar

Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Oskar, an affectionate 8-year-old Dachshund mix weighing about 35 pounds. He has a short coat, an endearing personality, and a gentle disposition. Oskar was surrendered after six years when his family could no longer care for him.

Ideal Home

Oskar would thrive in a quiet home, perhaps with a retired couple or people who work from home. He does well with dogs, especially a well-socialized female resident dog, but may become jealous when another dog receives attention. He is comfortable around children, though young children running around frighten him. Oskar requires a cat-free home and a fully fenced yard.

Ongoing Health

Oskar is fully up to date on vaccines, 4DX tested negative, and neutered. He has lost 6 pounds since arriving because he was previously overweight. He eats twice daily and does not overeat. Oskar will be microchipped before adoption.

Training & Support

Oskar is quiet and house-trained. He loves walks but pulls on leash. He enjoys running off leash in a fenced yard, car rides, bully sticks, and Kongs stuffed with canned dog food. He is excellent in the vehicle and no longer plays with toys.
