Oskar is an 8-year-old Dachshund mix, weighing around 35 lbs with a short coat. He was surrendered back to our rescue after his family experienced a profound loss and illness. Despite this upheaval, Oskar is a very affectionate boy who has settled in well with his foster family. He gets along with other dogs but can get a little jealous if another dog is receiving attention when he wants it. Oskar is quiet, house-trained, and loves to run in a securely fenced yard. He has successfully lost 6 lbs and now eats twice a day, no longer overeating. While he’s not much of a toy player, he thoroughly enjoys bully sticks and stuffed Kongs. Oskar is a fantastic traveler and loves car rides, possessing an endearing and gentle personality. He enjoys walks but does tend to pull on the leash.
Ideal Home
Oskar would thrive in a quiet home, perhaps with a retired couple or individuals who work from home. He doesn't mind children but can be frightened by young children running around. He would do well with a well-socialized female resident dog, but a cat-free home is a must. A fully fenced yard is mandatory for Oskar's safety and enjoyment.
Ongoing Health
Oskar is up-to-date with all his vaccinations, tested negative for the 4DX, and is neutered. He will be microchipped before his adoption.
Training & Support
Oskar pulls on the leash during walks, which will require some training. Otherwise, he is a well-behaved boy who is house-trained and enjoys his routine.
