About Toby, Mr. Cutie Patootie

Meet Toby, a 6-month-old, 26-pound Carolina-Corgi mix with a heart full of love and a tail that wags with hope! Toby's journey began a bit rough; he was found at a high-kill shelter at only four months old. While his mom found her forever home quickly, Toby was left behind, a little scared in a loud place. Thankfully, a kind foster family welcomed him into their home, giving him the safe space he needed to blossom.

When Toby first arrived in foster care, the outside world was a bit overwhelming. Everyday sounds and new sights made him nervous. But with the guidance of his confident foster sisters, Toby started to explore. Now, he happily goes for walks on his leash, loves playing with his furry siblings, and enjoys soaking up the sun. Toby is a shy boy when meeting new people and needs a little time to adjust to new surroundings. Once he feels safe, he becomes a devoted companion who will quietly stay by your side. He is calm, gentle, and incredibly sweet, showing wonderful manners around other animals. Toby enjoys lounging on bookshelves, under desks, or close to his foster sisters. He currently lives with six dogs and one cat and gets along wonderfully with all of them. He truly thrives in the company of other pets and looks to them for confidence. Because of this, a happy, confident, and playful dog in the home is a must for Toby! He's also a very smart puppy who learns quickly and continues to grow every day. While he's fine around children, we believe Toby would be happiest in a quieter home without young kids. He spends a lot of energy observing his environment to ensure everything is safe, so a calm home will help him relax and build confidence. After everything he's been through, Toby is understandably cautious. But for a family willing to offer patience, kindness, and time, Toby will reward you with unwavering loyalty and a bond that's truly special.

Ideal Home

Toby would thrive in a home with at least one happy, confident, and playful dog who can serve as a canine role model. He also needs a quiet environment and would do best in a home without young children. A fully fenced yard is a requirement for Toby's safety and well-being.

Ongoing Health

Toby is fully vaccinated, neutered, and heartworm negative. He is kept on heartworm and flea preventatives.

Training & Support

Toby is currently puppy pad trained and has learned to potty indoors effectively. While he is still gaining confidence with outdoor noises and new environments, he closely observes the other dogs and is eager to follow their lead when they go outside. With a patient family and a confident dog companion, transitioning to outdoor potty training is expected to be smooth and quick.
