My name is Hachi, and I’m an eight-year-old Akita mix with a heart that’s both tender and fiercely loyal once I know you’re truly mine. When we first meet, I might hang back a little and take my time deciding if you’re someone I can trust. Akitas are thoughtful like that, and I’m no exception. I’m a golden girl now, so I appreciate a calm home where I can relax without too much chaos.
Ideal Home
I’d prefer to be your one and only pet, not because I don’t appreciate other animals, but because I feel safest when I don’t have to share my space. Older kids—twelve and up—are just right for me, especially those who know how to move gently and respectfully around a dog who values her boundaries. Since my joints aren’t as spry as they used to be, a home with minimal stairs would make my days much more comfortable.
