About Odin Bear Just a Sweet Boy

Odin Bear has the kind of face that makes you smile before he's even done anything. Then he does something goofy and you're completely done for. Maybe it's the long legs he's still figuring out how to coordinate. Maybe it's the tail that seems to have a mind of its own. Or maybe it's just the fact that Odin approaches life with the enthusiasm of a puppy who genuinely believes every day is going to be the best day ever. Whatever it is, this handsome boy has a way of making people fall for him fast. Odin Bear is approximately 5 months old, currently weighs around 35 lbs, and we believe he may be a German Shepherd/Bloodhound mix. With rescue, it's always a mystery and we can never guarantee breed or age. Between his floppy ears, impressive nose, and the way he can seemingly locate food before anyone else realizes it's nearby, we'd be willing to bet there's some hound mixed in there somewhere. Odin still has plenty of growing left to do and while we can't predict exactly how big he'll become, we do think he's going to grow into a pretty substantial boy. Odin is exactly what you hope for when you think of a puppy. He's affectionate, playful, curious, and always interested in what everyone else is doing. He loves being included and has a happy, easygoing personality that makes him fun to be around. Whether he's carrying around a toy, investigating something new, or soaking up attention from his people, Odin seems to find joy in just about everything. One of the things we love most about Odin is how food motivated he is. This boy is a foodie through and through. If snacks are involved, you've got his full attention. The good news is that his love of treats makes him a great candidate for continued training. He's eager, engaged, and already enjoys learning new things. He is also learning to love to play with toys. He hasn't quite gotten the concept of "fetch" down yet, but he is a pretty cute dude when he is playing and when he does those big dramatic pounces. Odin has been great meeting other dogs and seems to genuinely enjoy making new friends. He met a small dog and was very sweet with him, offering little kisses and happily hanging out even though the other dog wasn't interested in playing. He also met several large dogs and was excited to interact with them too. He would play, bounce around, and engage with them, but every now and then you could see the little puppy in him come out when he realized just how big they were. Overall, he did really well and we think his confidence around larger dogs will continue to grow as he gets more experience. He's a social, friendly boy that could do well as an only dog or would likely enjoy having a playful canine buddy in the home. He also met our house cat Biggie and was playful around him. He was giving him play bows, and at one point even gave Biggie kisses. We do not know if he has ever lived in a home before with a cat, and this was our first time seeing him with a cat. If you have a cat in the home, we can arrange for him to have a sleepover with a cat upon request. Just let us know!

Ideal Home

Because Odin has typical puppy energy and is likely going to be a fairly large dog, we think he'd do best in a home with a backyard where he has room to run, play fetch, and stretch his legs. He's at that age where life is one big adventure and every day is an opportunity to learn something new.

Ongoing Health

Odin is crate trained and is doing great learning where the appropriate potty places are. He's still very much a young puppy, so he'll need continued routine, consistency, and structure as he grows.

Training & Support

Like all puppies, he's counting on his future family to continue helping him learn the ropes and become the best version of himself.
