Nona

Nona is a charming 1-year-old, 50 lb spayed female Staffie mix with a personality that's blossoming beautifully! She's entering her "older puppy" phase, full of playful energy but also growing in confidence and learning to be the best girl she can be. Nona has a unique, tank-like build with a short, sturdy frame, making her adorable sprints and couch hops even funnier. Don't let her low-rider status fool you; she's quick and loves to zoom around the yard with her toys, greeting her foster family with enthusiastic leaps.

Nona is a sweet and affectionate companion who enjoys being near her people. Her excitement is contagious, with full-body wiggles and a tail that wags a mile a minute. She loves meeting new friends, both human and canine, and has shown great potential in various social settings. She's incredibly clever and enjoys problem-solving, whether through puzzles or navigating obstacle courses. Nona is highly motivated by toys and treats, making training a rewarding experience. She's mastered "sit" and is working on her leash manners. She enjoys walks of 2-3 miles and settles beautifully in her crate, especially overnight. She's also doing well with potty training, needing consistent reinforcement. Nona can be a little shy and will alert you to unfamiliar sounds or sights. Her adorable underbite adds to her many charming expressions.

Ideal Home

Nona would do best in a home with a confident canine companion who respects personal space and is happy to share attention. While she hasn't been around cats or young children in a home setting, her personality suggests she'd do well in a calm environment with respectful, well-mannered children who understand how to interact with an older puppy. She would also be happy as an only pet, receiving all the attention.

Training & Support

Nona is crate-trained and doing well with potty training, requiring continued reinforcement of her routine. She is working on her leash manners and can be a bit of a shy watchdog.

• A virtual home visit, along with personal and veterinary reference checks, are required to complete the adoption process.

• We are a volunteer-run rescue and donate our time to help these dogs find homes. If you are not serious about moving forward with the adoption process, please do not apply.

Transporation

Nona is currently located in Austin, TX, but she can transport out of state when matched with an approved adopter. Transport is included in the adoption donation and runs every few weeks.
