About Birdie

Meet Birdie! This sweet adult beagle, weighing a medium size, is ready to leave her past behind and embrace a life of love and snuggles. Birdie is a survivor, having been retired from Ridglan Farms where she endured a difficult life. Now, she's eager to make up for lost time and experience the joys of a true home. Her favorite spot? Sleeping right on your head!

Ideal Home

Birdie would thrive in a calm home with a confident, mellow dog sibling who can show her the ropes of being a beloved pet. She needs a fenced yard and cannot live in an apartment. Due to her past trauma, she can be head shy and might not be the best fit for homes with small children, though she has enjoyed meeting teenagers. She has not been exposed to cats.

Ongoing Health

Birdie is spayed and up to date on all her vetting. Her body shows signs of past trauma from being caged, and she has damage to her ears which makes her head shy. She is learning to be more comfortable with gentle introductions.

Training & Support

Birdie is making great strides in her newfound freedom! She is friendly with humans but can be reactive to strange dogs and loud noises on walks, especially barking dogs. She prefers not to be left alone and may bark briefly when you leave. Birdie is highly food-motivated and should be fed separately to prevent resource guarding. She is working on her potty skills and leash walking, and a fenced yard is essential. Please do not crate her; she does wonderfully free-roaming.
