Meet Ryan!
Ryan is a charming, sweet, and unconventional 5-year-old mixed-breed dog who weighs about 60 pounds. He has a unique story and an even bigger heart. As a day-old puppy, he was attacked by his mother, and as a result, he lives with neurological deficits that affect his short-term memory. He knows his basic commands and genuinely enjoys learning, especially when food is involved. Walks are one of his greatest joys, as every outing feels like a brand-new adventure. He is playful, affectionate, and perfectly capable of entertaining himself. He loves to run in the yard, have bursts of play, and then head to his crate for a nap. His crate is his safe space, and he chooses it willingly. He sleeps there at night and uses it to decompress when he feels overstimulated. Ryan is housebroken, crate trained, and happiest when he is included in family life. He may forget what happened five minutes ago, but he never forgets how much he loves his people.
Ideal Home
Ryan would do best in a calm, predictable home without young children or cats. While he can coexist with another dog, it would need to be a very specific match – one that respects his boundaries and lets him lead when he wants to play or be left alone. He can become overstimulated more easily than most.
Ongoing Health
Ryan lives with neurological deficits that affect his short-term memory and can lead to "temper tantrums" as his brain may not develop beyond puppy behaviors, affecting his ability to interact with children. He can also have sensory issues, and touching him the wrong way can elicit a "temper tantrum." Ryan is vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped.

He has not shown this behavior with adult people. He is very loving and affectionate, a great companion, easygoing with his day-to-day, and loves a routine.
