Florence, affectionately nicknamed Flora, Flory, Lory, or Sweetpea, is a playful and energetic 3-year-old Carolina Dog mix who loves to wrestle and be chased. She's a total love bug who enjoys snuggling and birdwatching, and she thrives in a moderately active home with regular outdoor play sessions. Flora would do best in a home with dogs of similar size and energy level, and she has experience playing with dogs of various sizes. She adores the children in her foster home and is very smart, loves learning new tricks, and is very submissive and affectionate.
Ideal Home
Flora would do best in a home with dogs of similar size and energy level, or as the one and only pet. She has shown some leash reactivity and gets easily spooked, so a home with minimal stimuli and calm environments would be ideal. Due to her fear of new people and nervousness around new children, an adult household is preferred at this time. She requires an owner who is often around, enjoys walks or jogs, and will play fetch with her.
Ongoing Health
Flora is spayed and weighs 46 pounds. She has demonstrated some anxiety in the crate at home, but shows no issues when boarded. She is fed separately from other dogs in the home. She is terrified of storms and will seek shelter when they occur.
Training & Support
Flora has shown some leash reactivity, exhibiting behaviors like raised hair, whimpering, and barking. Her foster parents have worked with her on this behavior using positive reinforcement, and she has made progress. She needs consistent training to help with her leash skills and to feel safe around new dogs and stimuli. While she needs reminders to take treats gently, she shares her toys well and has no issues with people and food.

Transporation
Flora is currently in a foster home in HOUSTON, TEXAS and can transport out of State once an adopter is approved. Transports run every few weeks.
