Sadie is a sweet 3-year-old, 12.5 lb female Chihuahua mix with a unique story. She was rescued from a hoarding situation and, instead of coming straight to us, stayed with a wonderful foster in Texas for about a year before making her way north. Sadie is a very timid but incredibly nice dog. She can be a bit of a homebody and enjoys hiding in quiet spots like the pantry or bathroom, especially when she hears thunder. She's also very attached to her people and will seek comfort by joining you in bed, especially at bedtime. While she's still getting used to the great outdoors and can be a flight risk, she has surprised her foster by doing well with visitors in her quiet foster home. Sadie is not a dog for a first-time adopter; she needs a patient human who understands her need for security.
Ideal Home
Sadie needs a patient adopter with a securely fenced yard and a home that will allow her to sleep in bed with them, as this truly helps her come out of her shell. She would do best with older, calm children if any. She is good with other dogs but may growl at overly energetic ones who try to initiate chase games. We are unsure how she would do with cats.
Ongoing Health
Sadie is up-to-date on vaccinations and is spayed. Her adoption includes a certified vet inspection and prior vetting paperwork.
Training & Support
Sadie is still working on building confidence, especially with going outdoors. She is considered a flight risk and tends to hide when she feels scared. While she has never attempted to nip, she accepts pets and being picked up. She enjoys the company of other dogs. Patience and understanding will be key to helping Sadie thrive.
