Meet Hickory Haven. Hickory Haven is a family farmstead in Tennessee. That can mean different things for different people, but for us it is a way of life. We have a small family farm with various animals, both farm animals and pets. My wife and I have six children, five of which still live at home. Though we have many different breeds of animals, we are known for our Great Danes, our Livestock Guardian Dogs, our poultry, and our pigs. We also have hedgehogs, rabbits, cats, and a few others. Our great dane puppies are born in our home. They are socialized even before their eyes are open. We own both parents who are in and out working with us on the farm (playing really... our LGDs do most of the work), so when the puppies are old enough, they are allowed to go outside and are introduced to many other animals. Both mom and dad can roam where they please, as we are pretty rural and there are not neighbors close to our home. We are lucky that our danes stay relatively close to the house and don't wonder. Ryan has a background in education and that is one of our focuses on our small homestead. We are also an advocate for animal health. It is important that each animal be given the best chance to thrive. That includes vaccinations and regular dewormings. Each of our puppies are vaccinated before visitors are allowed to touch them. This helps prevent many potential illnesses including some that can be fatal.
