Ferka

Ferka is a delightful 4-year-old Chihuahua mix, weighing around 9 lbs. She's a small dog with a huge personality and an even bigger heart! Ferka was found near a church, walking comfortably among people and happily playing with other dogs, which perfectly captures her sweet and social spirit. She's crate-trained, a calm car rider, and gets along wonderfully with dogs, children, men, and women. Even strangers are met with her friendly demeanor. Ferka is affectionate, playful, and showers her favorite people with kisses, always eager to be part of the action.

Ideal Home

Ferka would thrive in a home with tolerant, playful dogs or with supervision, as her high energy can sometimes overwhelm other dogs. She cannot live with cats, as she tends to chase them. A home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities would be ideal. She needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue, an open mind about the needs of street animals, and experience in dog behavior and training, or a willingness to hire a trainer. High tolerance and patience for rescued puppies are essential.

Ongoing Health

Ferka has received a comprehensive health protocol, including being spayed, vaccinated (DHPPI and Rabies), dewormed, and microchipped. She has tested negative for heartworm and 4DX, and is on monthly preventive medication (Nexgard Spectra). She comes with a health certificate and vaccination booklet. It's important to understand that rescued dogs may need an adjustment period and may not be house-trained.

Training & Support

Ferka is not currently house-trained, which is common for rescued animals. Her new family should be prepared to provide patience, understanding, and consistent guidance to help her adjust and learn. Her energetic play style with other dogs means she'll benefit from continued socialization and potentially some training to manage her enthusiasm.

• Please send photos/videos of your home to ensure your future furry friend will be safe. Home photos/videos are required to process your application.
• If it's a match, we'll call or video chat to introduce you to the pet and conduct a virtual home tour.
• References will be contacted.
• If approved, you will sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee, which covers vet care, spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, and food.

Transporation

Ferka is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on our cross-country trip. We offer door-to-door delivery. Our transport company organizes 3-4 trips per year, collecting adopted pets from Mexico. For US adoptions, pets are escorted across the border into Texas. A one-time transport fee of $400 USD covers the journey to your home. Real-time updates will be provided through a private Facebook Messenger group, and the transport team will conduct a final home review upon arrival.
