Tonya is a 7-month-old pittie mix with a stunning brindle coat that will surely turn heads! She currently weighs about 40 lbs. and is a bundle of puppy energy – sweet, curious, and a little goofy. Tonya is learning so much, including working on her leash manners and on redirecting her playful nips to appropriate chew toys. She’s doing a fantastic job and is well on her way to being a well-behaved companion.
Tonya absolutely adores other dogs and would be thrilled to have a canine sibling in her forever home to play and learn with. She has also been fostered with cats and, with slow and proper introductions, is believed to be successful with dog-savvy felines. Her foster mom affectionately notes that Tonya’s stomping walk means she’ll never have to wonder when Tonya is near! She also loves to snuggle and is learning that it’s okay to relax and nap without missing out on anything. Tonya recently had a sleepover in a high-rise apartment and was incredibly brave, even with the elevator, quickly settling in to enjoy the balcony views and plenty of cuddles. Potty training is going well, and this Texas girl is ready to embrace the cozy season in some stylish winter sweaters. Tonya is a social butterfly at adoption events, charming everyone she meets. She is looking for an active family or adopter who is committed to continued training and socialization to help her shine!

Tonya would love a home with another dog to learn from and play with. She has also shown potential for success with dog-savvy cats with proper introductions.

Tonya is working on her leash skills and learning not to be a "land shark." She is making great progress with appropriate chew toys. She sometimes needs reassurance that it's okay to nap. She is also working on potty training and is embracing the colder weather in sweaters.

Tonya is currently fostered in Vancouver, WA. We facilitate adoptions nationwide using our rescue run USDA certified transport system, ensuring every pet travels safely and comfortably with 24/7 care. Our transport includes drop-off locations in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI and Canada (pick up in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY or Brattleboro, VT for Canadian adopters). Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
