Rocky is a striking little dog who looks like a panther met a chihuahua, with a jet-black coat and amber eyes in a tiny 10lb body. He was rescued from a tough situation in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, where he was found covered in ticks. Despite his rough start, at just about a year old, Rocky is a young pup who is learning that the world can be a wonderful place. He's a velcro pup who loves to snuggle and be by your side, whether you're working or relaxing. While he can be a bit unsure in new situations, at home, he transforms into a silly, loving, and happy-go-lucky companion.
Ideal Home
Rocky would do best in a home with one other confident dog who can show him the ropes. He's currently thriving with large dogs and cats, enjoying playtime with his canine siblings and being mostly indifferent to the cats, though he sometimes enjoys following them around. Due to his nervousness around new people, we recommend a home without young children.
Ongoing Health
Rocky was found to be anemic due to the tick infestation. As he is young and otherwise healthy, we expect him to recover fully. We will be conducting follow-up bloodwork at the end of June.
Training & Support
Rocky is potty trained and enjoys going on walks and car rides. He loves chasing a ball outside but his favorite activity is curling up in your lap. He sleeps in his crate and may bark or howl in a new environment until he adjusts to the routine.

Rocky is currently fostered in Houston, TX. We work with trusted transport partners to bring our dogs to over 30 cities in the United States. Adopters are also welcome to pick up their new pet directly in Houston. Once an adoption is confirmed, our team will work with you to arrange the best transportation plan.
