Oreo is a gentle, resilient, and heartbreakingly devoted soul with a quiet caution about her. She was found wandering the streets with what we believe was her baby and, instead of running, she chose trust and climbed into her finder's car. Her body shows the signs of multiple litters, and though she's slowly learning that kindness is consistent, she still shudders with certain human interactions. It's believed Oreo experienced abuse before she was found, yet she still chooses connection. This mature adult, estimated to be around 3-4 years old, longs for stability and safety. She is friendly at heart but cautious at first, needing time, patience, and predictability to feel secure. Once trust is earned, her affection is deeply meaningful; she enjoys hand-feeding, seeks gentle attention, and forms strong, loyal bonds with those who respect her pace.
Ideal Home
Oreo thrives in a calm, quiet, and structured environment. She has not been exposed to children and would do best in an adult-only home or with older, dog-savvy teens who understand boundaries. She is happiest as the only dog and does not enjoy meeting new dogs, preferring human companionship. She can become overwhelmed in multi-dog environments and has a high prey drive, making her unsuitable for homes with cats or small animals.
Ongoing Health
Oreo's body shows the signs of multiple litters. She continues to make progress with sensitive areas of touch with consistency and reassurance.
Training & Support
Oreo is still learning skills like leash walking and potty training. She needs an experienced, compassionate adopter who understands behavior modification, trauma-informed care, and positive, structured training. She isn't difficult; she's healing and deserves someone willing to walk beside her as she continues to find her footing.
