About Stewy

We genuinely do not know what factory produced Stewy, but whatever happened in there was deeply entertaining. This lanky little brindle weirdo looks like somebody combined a Dutch Shepherd, a baby deer, a fruit bat, and one emotionally sensitive teenage boy into a single dog. And somehow? It WORKS. Stewy is one of those dogs that sneaks up on your heart. At first, he’s a little cautious, quietly trying to figure out if everybody in the room is normal. Then suddenly three days later he’s carrying your Crocs around the house like he just returned from war with a priceless artifact. Not chewing them. Not destroying them. Just proudly transporting them from room to room like: “father, behold the ceremonial foot canoe.” Stewy steals shoes constantly but has never destroyed a single one because apparently he believes footwear is more of an emotional support item than a chew toy. And honestly? That tracks perfectly with his personality. Stewy is SUCH a soft soul. He’s incredibly sweet, gentle, submissive, and easygoing. This is a dog who rolls over and shows his belly to tiny dachshunds like he’s trying to avoid conflict at a small-town HOA meeting. He absolutely loves other dogs and really blossoms with canine companionship. Another friendly dog in the home would likely help him continue building confidence and settling into family life. And while he may take a second to process brand new environments, once he feels safe, you start seeing the real Stewy: goofy, affectionate, playful, loyal, and weirdly endearing in ways that are hard to explain until you live with him. He’s also low energy for a young dog, which honestly feels illegal considering how athletic he looks. You see him standing there all tall and elegant like a runway model for REI and assume: “this dog probably runs marathons.” Nope. This man would actually prefer a short walk, a backyard sniff session, and then immediate retirement to the couch. Inside the house, he’s calm, respectful, crate trained, mostly potty trained, and already knows commands like “stay” and “go outside.” He’s not loud, not dramatic, and not overwhelming. He’s just one of those genuinely GOOD dogs with a quiet little personality that slowly wraps around your life before you even realize it happened. The kind of dog that starts out sleeping politely across the room… and somehow ends up becoming your entire emotional support system by Thanksgiving. And once you know Stewy, you’ll understand exactly why people get so attached to dogs like him. Every rescue pup is a work in progress — and that’s the beauty of it. None of them come wrapped in a bow, ready-made or mistake-free. They come with stories, quirks, and hearts that have seen a lot but still choose to trust again. Adoption isn’t about perfection; it’s about presence. Showing up for them, every day, until they know they’re finally home. That’s when you’ll see them bloom — soft and steady — into the very best version of themselves. And somewhere along the way, you’ll realize they were never the only one being rescued.
