Olia is a stunningly gorgeous girl with a heart full of love to give! This 60.4 lb bundle of affection is a true velcro dog, always wanting to be close and convinced she's a lap dog. She loves to snuggle and will happily choose your lap over the couch next to you! Olia enjoys her downtime and is a champion sleeper, often dozing until 7 or 8 am. She's a smart cookie who quickly mastered the doggie door and is a quick learner, already excelling at commands like 'sit,' 'paw,' 'wait,' and 'down.' She's even improved at waiting patiently for her food and for doors to be opened. Olia was found abandoned and in rough shape, but she's made a miraculous recovery, with her beautiful coat growing back and no underlying health issues found by the vet. She's a playful pup who loves chasing balls and playing fetch with sticks on the beach, easily transitioning back to leash walks when playtime is over. While she rarely barks, she will sometimes alert you if someone is approaching the door.
Ideal Home
Olia would thrive in a home where she can be close to her people. While she's generally good with small children, her playful energy can sometimes lead to nipping or jumping. For this reason, a home with older children or a child-free environment might be ideal to prevent accidental bumps or nips during her exuberant play. She can be left alone but may look for entertainment on countertops if bored, and has shown some separation anxiety when routines are disrupted.
Ongoing Health
Olia was found in poor condition but has made a full recovery. Thankfully, the vet found no underlying health issues, and her coat is growing back beautifully.
Training & Support
Olia's leash pulling is an ongoing process that will need continued positive reinforcement. Her recall is not yet reliable, especially when she spots birds or squirrels, and this is an area that will require dedicated training. She also has a sensitivity to certain triggers like electric scooters, skateboards, and trucks, and can sometimes bark at people, though this seems mood-dependent and can often be managed with a distraction like a treat. Continued work on her impulse control and reinforcing commands in distracting environments will be beneficial.
