About Spike

Meet Spike! This handsome two-year-old German Shepherd mix is a bundle of energy and affection, weighing around 50 pounds. Spike has a striking black coat with a bright white chest patch and intelligent eyes that sparkle with curiosity. He's a wonderfully playful boy who believes he's a lap dog, happily snuggling up for belly rubs and basking in your attention. His favorite pastime? Squeaky toys, which he loves to chase, pounce on, and proudly parade! Spike is also an enthusiastic swimmer and would make a fantastic companion for anyone who enjoys an active, outdoor lifestyle.

When Spike first arrived in his current home, he was quite fearful and easily startled. Over the past year and a half, he has blossomed into a more confident dog who actively seeks affection and initiates play. While he may still bark at strangers out of uncertainty, he now recovers more quickly and looks to his people for reassurance.

Ideal Home

Spike needs a patient, experienced pet parent who can provide a fenced yard, loving guidance, and steady leadership in a caring environment. He has lived peacefully with female dogs but can be selective, so thoughtful introductions would be beneficial.

Ongoing Health

Spike is neutered and microchipped.

Training & Support

Spike is crate-trained and house-trained. He knows commands such as "sit," "wait," "crate," "out," and "no," and he comes when called. He responds beautifully to structure and positive reinforcement. While he has made great progress, loud sirens can make him uneasy, and he sometimes whimpers if he sees his people cuddling another dog. With continued confidence-building, he continues to blossom.
