About Chip

Hi, my name is Chip! I'm about 4 months old and likely a mix of Pittie and Shepherd. I'm a high-energy pup, but the good news is that when my energy is burned off, I can relax and chill out. I'm extremely smart and learn fast. In just two days, I mastered the treadmill! I am also highly food-motivated and will work hard to earn my food during obedience lessons. My foster family thinks I'm so talented that I even have "pawsibilities" to be a good sport dog. I'm getting the hang of potty training and haven't had any accidents in my kennel. I haven't figured out how to indicate at the door when I want to go out yet, but as long as you remember to take me out, I'll do my business! At night, I sleep well in my crate, but during the day, I cry a little when my human puts me in there because I don't like being alone. My foster humans think it might be a bit of separation anxiety, but I'm learning that being on my own isn't so bad. They're teaching me that my crate is a safe environment where I can relax, and continuing this work will help me become more confident. I'm learning to walk on a leash, and like most things, if you teach and guide me, I'll be a pro in no time! My foster humans have a two-and-a-half-year-old German Shepherd, and we're learning to get along and not play too roughly. I don't currently live with kids or cats and don't remember if I had companions before I ended up in "doggy jail."

Ideal Home

My ideal family would be active and motivated to teach me tricks and guide me to work on new skills, helping me burn energy both physically and mentally. A 6-foot fence is essential, as I'm a bit of an escape artist and will jump smaller gates, likely because I don't like to be by myself. This urge may lessen as I gain confidence.

Ongoing Health

I'm currently working through some separation anxiety.

Training & Support

I'm learning what is good behavior and what is bad behavior, but I need someone willing to teach me. With proper management, training, and socialization, I can achieve the skills I need.
