Florence, affectionately nicknamed Flora, Flory, Lory, or Sweetpea, is a playful and energetic 3-year-old Carolina Dog mix weighing around 46 pounds. She’s a true love bug who enjoys wrestling, being chased, and snuggling. Flora thrives on interaction and loves playing with other dogs, though she needs slow and guided introductions. She has shown some leash reactivity, but her foster parents have been working with her. Flora adores the child in her foster home and would likely do well in an adult household. She’s fully housebroken and can be left unsupervised outside of a crate, though she has shown some crate anxiety at home. Flora has high energy needs and loves outdoor play, walks, sunbathing, and birdwatching. She's a smart girl who loves learning new tricks and is very affectionate.
Ideal Home
Flora would do best in a home with someone who is often around and enjoys an active lifestyle, including regular outdoor play and walks. A home with no other pets or a well-balanced dog of similar age, size, and energy level would be ideal. While she loves the child in her foster home, she can be nervous around new children and shows stranger danger, making an adult household preferable at this time.
Ongoing Health
Flora is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. She has shown some anxiety in a crate at home, but no issues when boarded. She is fed separately from other dogs in the home.
Training & Support
Flora requires consistent positive reinforcement training to help with her leash reactivity, stranger danger, and general anxiety. She needs continued guidance to feel safe around new stimuli and people. Reminders are needed to take treats gently.
