About Violet

Meet Violet!

Violet came to HSCC after she was found after being abandoned. This lovable velvet house hippo has quickly become a staff and volunteer favorite, and if you meet her you'll see why!

Violet has stolen our hearts with her adorable wiggles, snorts and grumbles, and in-your-pocket attitude. Small in stature but mighty in presence, she's a certified expert at giving hugs and full-body snuggles. Her favorite activities include: spending time with all of her friends (human and canine alike), forehead kisses, sniffy walks outside, and accompanying her people on adventures.

Violet has been through a lot of transition and instability in her life, so she'd love to find a family willing to take things slow, to show her the patience and kindness she deserves, and to help her learn that the world isn't that scary, after all. This sweet girl can be a little slow to warm up (especially with male-presenting individuals), but once she trusts you, she's practically inseparable! Violet would be a great work-from-home buddy, or a loyal sidekick for exploring the great outdoors with. She will make the most deeply loving companion someone could ask for, and is ready for her next adventure to begin!

People-oriented and eager-to-please Thoughtful and charismatic Affectionate, snuggly, and gentle

Dogs: Violet is dog social with proper introductions! She might enjoy sharing her home with an appropriately matched canine friend.

Cats: Violet has no known history with cats.

Children: Due to her sensitive nature, Violet might be most successful in a home with older children aged 10 and up.

Ready to adopt your new best friend? Submit an adoption application today! You'll receive an email with all the next steps. At HSCC, dog adoptions are by appointment, and we'll schedule your counseling session promptly to help you find the pawfect canine companion!

We are also looking for foster placement while awaiting adoption. Please visit hsccvt.org/Foster to learn about fostering for HSCC if you are not already signed up to foster with us!
