Plum

Plum is a bright-eyed, 2-year-old, 35lb Aussie x Heeler mix who has been waiting for her forever home since April 20th. Months in a kennel have taken a toll, and Plum is ready to trade the bars for a backyard! She's bursting with intelligence, drive, and enthusiasm for life, and she's looking for someone who understands the heart and mind of a cattle dog. Plum is incredibly dog-social and loves to play, though her rough-and-tumble style might be a bit much for more sensitive pups. She thrives on activity, engagement, and having an outlet for her boundless energy and busy Heeler brain. Volunteers believe she's highly trainable and eager to learn, but she needs a dedicated person to show her the ropes of life outside the shelter.

Ideal Home

Plum is looking for an adult-only home or a home with older, dog-savvy teens. She would not be a good fit for homes with cats or other small animals due to her herding instincts and tendency to nip. Plum isn't a "plug-and-play" dog and requires someone who understands cattle breeds and is willing to provide guidance, consistency, and an outlet for her potential.

Plum is spayed and heartworm negative.

Training & Support

Plum has a tendency to nip due to her herding instincts and needs consistent training and guidance to redirect this behavior. She requires an owner who can provide an outlet for her working breed energy and intelligence.
