Meet Ponderosa, a handsome, almost-2-year-old Shepherd/Lab mix who weighs around 60 pounds. He's a bundle of pure sunshine, goofiness, and the "goodest boy energy" you could imagine. Pondsy, as he's affectionately known, has a soft, shiny black coat and big, warm brown eyes that will melt your heart. When he sees his favorite people, he gets so excited that he does his signature "Pondsy Wiggle," his tail wags furiously, and he'll plop right over for belly rubs. He makes every day an adventure, whether he's hiking, going for walks, or just enjoying a car ride nap. He's still a playful pup at heart, curious, and always up for some fun. Pondsy would be an amazing hiking buddy but also loves to snuggle up and relax after a day of adventures.
Ideal Home
Pondsy would do best in a home without cats, as he finds them too interesting to resist chasing. He can also be a bit overwhelmed by small children, so a home with teenagers (13+) and adults would be ideal. He could adapt to apartment living if he receives enough exercise and mental stimulation, but a yard would make him extra happy. He loves other dogs and would do wonderfully with a friendly, medium-energy female dog to play with, but he'd also be content as an only dog, receiving all the attention.
Ongoing Health
Pondsy is a resilient boy who has undergone leg surgery and completed physical therapy. He's come out of it stronger and happier than ever! His back leg has a unique characteristic now, which only adds to his charm and doesn't slow him down one bit. He still loves to run, play, and zoom around just like any other dog.
Training & Support
Pondsy thrives on inclusion and is eager to be part of the family activities. He bonds deeply with his people and will follow them around like a loyal shadow.

Pondsy is located in Texas but can be transported nationwide through our rescue's USDA-certified transport system. This system ensures safe and comfortable travel with 24/7 care. Drop-off locations are available in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, and Canada (with pick-up options in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY, or Brattleboro, VT for Canadian adopters). You'll be able to track your pet's journey in real-time and receive photo updates. Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
