Gunner from TEXAS

Gunner is a 3-year-old, 50-pound male black and tan hound mix who was rescued from a rural small-town dog pound. He's a good boy who loves human attention and petting, and enjoys playing with toys and other dogs. Gunner is crate-trained, comes when called, rides well in a vehicle, and is good with baths. Being a hound, he can be vocal about squirrels and neighborhood passersby, and has a tendency to counter-surf and raid the garbage if cabinets aren't secured. He prefers to spend hot Texas days indoors snoozing on the couch in the air conditioning.

Ideal Home

A home where he can enjoy air conditioning and indoor lounging would be ideal for Gunner, especially during hot weather. He loves to play with other dogs, so a home with canine companions would be a plus.

Ongoing Health

Gunner is neutered, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. He has been treated for heartworms and is now heartworm-negative. He receives monthly heartworm and flea prevention.

Training & Support

Gunner is generally obedient and leash-trained. He would benefit from continued training to manage his enthusiasm for squirrels and neighborhood sights, as well as work on counter-surfing and garbage raiding.

Transportation

Gunner is located in Texas but can be transported after adoption to Kalamazoo, Jackson, or Ann Arbor, MI. This transportation is included in his adoption fee.
