Foxy is a handsome 3.5-year-old, 52-pound mixed breed boy, part American Pit Bull Terrier. He was surrendered to a local shelter due to his owner's housing issues. Fortunately, a generous soul stepped in to give him a second chance! Foxy is a loyal companion who can be a bit shy and anxious at first, but with patience and reassurance, he blossoms into a wonderful dog. He loves a good game of fetch, engaging in playful chases with other dogs, and has a unique talent for stretching into "downward and upward dog" poses. He's a delightful mix of couch potato and energetic pup, enjoying bursts of play for about 45 minutes at a time.
Ideal Home
Foxy would thrive in a home with a stable routine that helps him manage his anxiety around new things and people. He'd do best with a family that is home often to help him work through his separation anxiety.
Ongoing Health
Foxy is neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations. He experiences frequent bathroom needs, which seem related to his anxiety, but he has no accidents in the house with a consistent walking schedule.
Training & Support
Foxy has some anxiety around new people, crowds, and when left alone. He can be determined to escape his crate if left unsupervised. Currently, he can only be left alone for about 20 minutes, but this is improving with training. He pulls on leash and barks at strangers at the door. Foxy needs a patient and committed adopter who can provide him with gradual exposure therapy for his anxiety triggers and build his confidence through consistent reassurance. He also needs outlets for his nervous energy, such as a couple of long, vigorous play sessions daily. He is housetrained but not crate trained.
