Oreo is a gentle, resilient, and heartbreakingly devoted soul, estimated to be around 3-4 years old. She carries herself with a soft caution, always reading the room before she moves, as if learning whether this moment, this person, is safe. Found wandering the streets with her baby, she chose trust when help finally came, climbing into her rescuer's car instead of running. Her body shows the signs of multiple litters, and while she is slowly learning that kindness can be consistent, she still shudders with certain human interactions, believed to be due to past abuse. Yet, even after all she's been through, she still chooses connection. Once trust is earned, her affection is deeply meaningful; she enjoys hand-feeding, seeks out gentle attention, and forms strong, loyal bonds with those who respect her pace.
Ideal Home
Oreo thrives in a calm, quiet, and structured environment. She has not been exposed to children and would do best in an adult-only home or with older, dog-savvy teens who understand boundaries. She is happiest as the only dog, as she does not enjoy meeting new dogs and can become overwhelmed in multi-dog environments. She also has a high prey drive and is not suitable for homes with cats or small animals.
Ongoing Health
None explicitly mentioned.
Training & Support
Oreo is still learning skills like leash walking and potty training. She will need an experienced, compassionate adopter who understands behavior modification, trauma-informed care, and positive, structured training. She isn’t difficult; she’s healing and deserves someone willing to walk beside her as she continues to find her footing.
