Meet George!
George is a magnificent three-year-old Great Pyrenees/Saint Bernard mix with a heart as vast as his impressive 112-pound frame. He embodies a quiet strength and unwavering loyalty, reminiscent of the mountains he seems to be named after. George's journey has been one of healing and rediscovery; after a difficult start, he's spent the last 15 months blossoming in a loving foster home. He's not a dog who demands attention, but rather one who offers a comforting, steady presence. He's content to simply be near you, a silent guardian and companion. His affection is earned, deep, and incredibly special when it's shared.
Ideal Home
George would thrive in a calm and structured environment with a guardian who understands that building trust takes time. He needs ample space to roam and feel secure, making him unsuited for apartments or small condos.
Ongoing Health
George is a healthy boy.
Training & Support
George is house-trained, leash-savvy, and knows several commands, including sit, down, shake, easy, and stay. He responds well to gentle guidance and clear routines. While he has made significant emotional progress, it's important to be aware of his sensitive nature. He had one fear-based bite incident when someone moved too quickly and touched his head, a sensitive area due to past trauma. In another instance, he snapped (without making contact) when a stranger approached him face-to-face in an unfamiliar setting. A professional trainer evaluated George and confirmed he is not aggressive but a sensitive, thoughtful dog reacting to stimuli. His trainers are kindly offering ongoing support with video or phone consultations for his future family. George also shows some food-related guarding tendencies, which can be managed with thoughtful mealtime routines.
